Well, got some questions so figured I'd make a thread.
Project Kurt Jeep starts as your basic YJ with a 4.0 and a 5 speed. It has stock axles with mismatched gears, 4" lift, 3" body lift, and new 35" mud kings. Modifications will include a 44 and a 14 bolt and a d300 as well as some additions to the stock cage.
So, now it's in the collecting parts and planning stage. What we have is a ford leaf sprung LP d44 with flat tops that will get high steer, 4.88 gears, special u-joints, and remain open. And a 14 bolt that will get 4.88 gears, a detroit, and disc brakes. We will use some caddy calipers from my front porch but not sure what discs to use as my front porch is 6 lug. Jimmy, you remember what caddy they came from? Or know if they're the big ones or the little ones?
Now for the d300, we need one. Anybody got? Maybe call Freddy at work soon. The flipping part looks easy enough. Anybody know how to put a CV driveshaft on the back of one with junkyard parts? And what to do about a speed sensor?
Suspension is supposed to be leafs from my springs with toyodie mains SOA. Guess I should get to building my suspensions then. Body lift will be leaving. Wheels are of the H2 variety, and if anybody finds a deal on some 35-37" tires for 17s let me know.
