actually its a 9 dollar part, and can be done much faster if you know the trick (we are talking about the inner axle seal on the front axle, right?)

yeah, the camo method is the way to go.
What do I do if the axle tore up the housing where the outer axle seals is a little bit when my profield broke?
The seal you see just behing this exploded diagram got kind of torn up. I haven't tried to replace it, but I should.
How's this weekend for changing that seal? Should I go buy the seal first or wait until we take it apart to make sure that is the problem?

replace with axle that doesn't suck
Boats and hoes
Stumble in to the liquor store
With a dollar-fifty for a bottle of wine,
I know just what I'm lookin for
Thunderbird will do just fine.
Haha, we'll see if it sucks after clayton (at which I am now notorious for killing axle parts) - I think it will be pretty damn bulletproof with all the shiny new innards.Originally Posted by BMFScout
Eric, maybe I misunderstood, but should I go buy the inner axle seal now?
I am thinking of having a workday for myself and others that need driveway space & tools at the house all day saturday if anybody is interested. I still have a ton of frozen slovacek's sausage left over from an event a couple weeks ago and would be glad to share. I'll post up in a separate thread tomorrow.
Thanks,

what day you planning on doing this... i am gonna weld up the rear end of my f150 and need a dryer outlet or 220 of the like
If you want to do it saturday, I have 220 in the garage, though I don't know if it works. I do have 220 inside at the dryer that is by the garage, though we would need an extension cord (I have the parts & cable to make one or get that garage jack working w/ some help - Krebs?)Originally Posted by Shaggy
