    Garage Shelves

Here you go Eric. I started the thread for you

    I use these shelves.

They seem to work well except I had to wrap a rachet strap around the one that the axle sits on to keep the spreaders from bending and letting the shelf fall through

Why didnt you put the axle **** closer to the bottom?

Oh and BTW I have those same shelves covered with ammo at my mom's house, they are suprisingly sturdy.

look nice, seems like a lot of work. I had some that I build out of wood I pulled out of the dumpsters at A&M when all of the freshman through their lofts away

Probably need some diagonal cross braces at least on the ends. My workbench shook all over before i put them on and it was more heavily reinforced than those.

Cheap plastic shelves from Home Depot. Lightweight, easy to move around. It could handle alot more weight than I have on them. Maybe not axles, but they are plenty sturdy and inexpensive

Got these from an old Advance Auto display....

Super sturdy. I actually have bench weights on the bottom shelf. The wheels are nice too.

I have the Lowe's version of the one Creighton posted. They're made by Edsal so I figured they'd be pretty decent. I got mine this weekend on sale for Father's Day and they're already loaded. I'm working on my work bench this week so I'll post a picture of it when I finish the rebuild.

Is the wood on those shelves very chemical resistant. Aren't they particle board? Had some at the shop I use to work at and if any oil or chemical spilled, they became very weak.

Built this a few months ago. Pretty cheap and took 2 hours to build. Each shelf is 2x8 with 1/2" plywood sheet. For a little extra sturdiness, I used masonry screws to secure it to the wall.

I didn't build a shelf on the bottom (like the one above mentions). I figure why build a shelf when there's a nice floor already there?
