I got it fixed. When i was driving back i noticed a really bad vibration. I baby it for a while cuz i just think it is all the mud in the rims. All the sudden it vibrates really bad and at this point i know what it is. Last time i didn't put locktite on the bolts connecting the driveshaft to the trans and they backed out. One cap was missing, one bolt sheared and two were bent. So, i had to go to napa (about 1/2 miles away) get the bolts and u-joint and put it back together (with locktite) while missing the first half of the superbowl

    finally broke something

Sooo, apparently I did not escape Soggy Bottom without some damage of my own...

I no longer have any armor protecting my transfer case. The rear piece of my front skid plate is destroyed. It folded forward at some point, probably when I was towed backwards out of the pit. I only discovered what happened while washing my truck and realizing that the large piece of metal hanging down from my skid plate was not a foreign object scooped from the muck and wedged in, but something that was originally attached to my truck, horribly mangled and torn.

So for now, I'm one good rock away from being downgraded to Prerunner.
I may not be able to run with the big dogs, but I can limp with the pack.

What does doing a solid axle swap have to do with t-case protection? I may have a stock skid/cross member soon that I can give to you, I am pulling mine off in the next couple of weeks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. SAS isn't cheap, and it's fairly involved. There are many other things I'll want to do first before even considering SAS.

Yeah, let me know. I just need the rear plate.

No, my front diff is still protected by the forward plate. It's the t-case that is exposed because rear plate got peeled away by something buried in the mud.

I like my IFS. I don't really see a need to change that for the foreseeable future.

150 for an axle? Wow. No lockah, so we weld it but wait no shafts, so they go boom, what the hell would be the point over ifs? You can have flex with no traction and get no where or break on the way and that is no fun for a daily driver, but here are some additional costs for doing it on the cheap...

Oil pan, return, sump, dip stick and assoted goodies for engine...$100
    shocks...$200
    frame plating...$100
drive shafts... $100 (on the cheap)
rear springs and hangers for 63" chevys...$60
    ubilt flip kit... $40
tires and wheels for new found glory...$500 if you find good used 35's.

Just a lil more money. He needs a lift, tcase skid, some 33's and a limited slip for the frontand keep his dd clean.

Nah I asked him about it at Clayton he didn't want it. I have already sold most of my takeoffs including lift gears tires wheels skids and steering. Has helped the solid axle swap a lot

...it was/is just a funding issue
