Yes, I know that it has one. (The guys gave me a basic run down of everything on it, but with the time crunch and the pending road trip I didn't retain too much of it) Once they get it tuned up, I will delve into it a bit better so that I can learn how to wrench on it myself.

I didn't know we thought it was lean. I don't believe any of the injector ratings. They need to be flow tested. It was rich according to the O2 until the sensor wore out. Won't be able to tune anything until it gets replaced, but I think I'm done doing the pro bono thing.

The motor sounded good until it started to get pushed in the canyon where it souned like it was backfiring. Everyone thinks it is running lean, but I am sure flem/clarke can get it running right with some time with it.

I don't get why the boiling clutch fluid would allow you to drive it at all. Wouldn't the expansion be equivalent to a constantly depressed clutch?

and my armchair diagnosis (from a thousand miles away) doesn't like the lean idea either. I thought glowing headers with the occasional backfire was usually indicative of a rich condition.

We had the wideband o2 to moniter A/F ratio, that being said the numbers were in the safe range, but I think its a time issue and misfire keeping it from its full potential. After Flem and I spent the day at FIS in SA, i think there is a chance of some dyno tune time, but that is all up to Ed
The worst problem was that the motor would run great for a short period of time but when we started driving down the road to the course at around 2000 rpm the motor would start to backfire badly and you had too keep the RPMs up around 4000 rpm just so you could drive down the road. It always seemed to stumble around 2000 rpm.

Also when we pulled the air filter to build the snorkel it was evident that the motor was only backfiring through one TBI I believe that it was the rear one.

Also how did you set fuel pressure with the fuel pressure gauge on the high pressure (inlet) side of the fuel pressure regulator

As stated before it is most likely a timing issue, the intake back fire is do to an advance issue not a lean issue. Everything will be workout in the end. What also has to be realized this motor has 2.30" intake valves, a limp dick cam, and 8:1 compression, the plan was to eventually go to a stroked motor thus the reason for the giant valves. Like any new idea it takes time to work out the bugs, and with Flem being the only one of us with the equipment and ability (which is a lifesaver) and the fact the me him and sharpe, were driven into the ground trying to finish everything else om this truck just to get it worthy to go out there, the motor got the best we could give it.

As for the fuel pressure, pressure is regulated on the return, thus the reason the guage is on the inlet, just like almost every FI vehicle on the road

A big part of the problem w/ this motor situation goes back to me assuming that a BBC swap was a BBC swap was a BBC swap.

Taking so much time trying to figure out what heads to use, and then not finally getting the invitation to go so much later than everyone else really kinked this build up. I am pretty sure that labor/computer time wise, I am in the hole pretty good to everyone right now (hence the pro boner remark  ).

While this setup might not get a lot of face time in any rags w/ it being in the 'show' truck that it is, one trip to alto w/ a few rips through the mud pit and everyone will be talking about it. Flemco/DexterFab will be on the Redneck Map of the Stars for sure!!!

If you wear the tight short shorts like the Napa girls do, you could make a killing.
