September 2003 Highway Cleanup

Texas A&M Off-Road is an on-campus, university recognized organization, and because of this we are required to do at least one community service project per semester....well, we're somewhat of a group of over achievers and we cleanup a 2 mile stretch of Highway 6 four times a year as ONE of our community service projects.  We always find some pretty interesting stuff.  Some items that have been found in the past include cell phones (broken and not), hub caps, money, people's mail (including TAAS scores and court summonses), and always a dead animal or three.  Here are some pics from this one.

This time most of us got these really cool orange vests to wear.  Our president, Jason Hensel (on the left) is showing off some of his finds...a really cool Confederate flag biker beanie and an ENTIRE Mexican socket set, standard and metric...(I'm talking about the crescent wrench in his hand).

Here is our end result.  This was a great cleanup and only took like an hour and a half because we had a lot of people show up.  We found an entire car hood, lots and lots of 18 wheeler rubber, a license plate, broken cell phone and a dead coral snake.

Good times were had by all then we headed to Chicken Oil Company for the traditional after cleanup meal.
