i pooped in november.
If you only did it once, then I can see why you are in such a bad mood right now. ;)
So extra parts...
I have none... Should I go buy some an extra U-joint for the front? Try and see if I can dig up some shafts? (D30/D35c) I know someone said they had a shaft for the 30, and another person said they had a shaft for the 35?
U-joints & fan belts are always a good idea
I wouldn't stress too much about it. If you can find some spares cheap or going price get them, otherwise you should be ok since your diffs are open. (they are open, right?) You can get ujoints for the front, not a bad idea, but it is rare that they break and not destroy the ears on at least one of the shafts when they go. Better to have a whole assembly to slide in and worry about salvaging what broke when you get home. There is also a pretty good NAPA in town, I got a brake line one year that they shipped in from somewhere, nice people.
the most commom breakage is U-Joint straps, buy a spare set of those, don't get the crappy ones in the help section, get the ones behind the counter.
precision makes some decent u-joint straps
agreed, if you listen to others in the club i wouldn't worry about the ujoints, It took me quite a while to break a ujoint with 33's with a locked diff
agreed, but if ujoints lived for me then they should live for most other people esp those with a 4cyl
Do you think I can carry an axleshaft on the airplane
Edit: i doesn't say no but since it says no baseball bats, I would assume no
Ed's truck already gone?
PM me if you have floor space.
Has anyone talked to the new member, Jimmy (was at 47 sunday)? He wanted to come to clayton but I haven't seen him on the boards yet. He was worried about a place to stay, and I mentioned Hummer Boy's request for "spooners"
Dr Frankenstein had torn his jeep apart and attemping to breed it a scout, a joo axle and some off the wall Sh*t, so he is waiting for the right thunderstorm to blow through portland
I put the spare D35C shaft in my trailer and put a box of misc. U-joint straps (for other people) in the Patrol.
Whenever I go to the junkyard and see straps hanging off an axle yoke, I pocket them...
Status report:
Jimmy's scout is sitting in the shop with the anti-wrap bracket welded to the diff, the actual "torque arm" yet to be made, and the front crossmember/shackle setup unfinished. Hope to knock the rest of that out tonight.
Lurch is pretty much ready to go. I gave him a once over sunday to find the front driveshaft's slip joint to be pretty suspect (about a half inch of slop in it), but I don't think I have time to run up to our property to snag a spare. But really, what isn't suspect on that truck? I was also half debating on throwing the halfcab back on, but I'd rather not tear it up, but it's nice when it's cold and rainy/sleeting/snowing on us so I might flip a coin to decide.
Other than that, it'll be a matter of throwing tools and spares in and loading trailers wednesay night. How is everybody else looking?
Good
I put the second coat of paint on Lynda's windshield frame last night, will spray CC tonight, install Wednesday night. Still waiting for bumpstops to arrive but that's not a show stopper.
The Patrol is ready to go - load the trailer Thursday night, we leave Friday morning.
Ryan
now is when you can start looking at the weather forcast :flipoff2:
looks good... http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave...opnav_business
Looks like we aren't going to head down there until Friday. What time should we plan to get there??
Also... if anyone needs me to haul **** up there for Friday, I have plenty of room in the back of the dodge, I just need it by tonight because I leave tomorrow for Tulsa.
If you get there by 9-10-ish am you should make it out to the trail. If you get there mid day, you run the risk of everyone being out on the trail. As far as what time everyone gets in for the evening it varies, but usually by dark. I'll be there sometime around 2:00 and plan on heading out to the trail if everyone is still there. Otherwise, I plan to start drinking...heavily.:gigem:
just need to get the jeep inspected (today sometime), check fluids, bleed brakes. GOOD TO GO.
UPS tried to deliver the d-link to the wrong address. I really hope it is there when I get home. Still need to drill out the pitman arm and rig up some sort of bumpstop on the pass. side. Fill up a tire, load up spare parts, check trailer tires, load it up on Wednesday and leave sometime Thursday. I want to miss Dallas traffic, but do not want to be in Clayton stupid early either if we are not going to wheel. What time are you thinking Cooke?
I would not worry about the half top Fred. Weather looks to be low in the mid 30's with high's nearing the 60's. Friday 0% rain chance, Saturday 15%.
I got the Chevy ready to tow. I need to check the bearings on the trailer and bleed the brakes on The Klogger. Going to do that tonight. Should be ready to drink, err I mean wheel...
I still need to finish the rockers, pack the Jeep, and beg my mom to front me money for my next pay check... Since it comes in on the day I'm gone... I won't be able to go cash it. errrrr...
Maybe I will just call up a friend at the bank and see if he can cash it and then deposit if for me?
Gonna load the tools and welder up in te a.m. and should be ready to head to CS tomorrow evening and will get groceries when I get there.
