that top rail doesn't have much weight on it, it would move with the rest. just about every mounting point on a chassis is on the side.
FYI, It's easier to say "I don't feel like doing it" than to draw stuff in paint ;)

hey that paint **** took longer than the inventor drawing!
If that's the case than just leave out the bottom bolts and it's all good, right?
just leave it mounted to the side of the chassis... failed attempt at humor
After some more digging I found Cage's improved RA mounts which did not require a backing plate, These appear to have came out in mid 2007 which is right around the time they went bankrupt, hopefully that wasn't caused by faulty RA mounts. I haven't found much feed back but I think Tommy will be fine with what he has and we can keep moving on for now.

Now to prevent confusion, I think a backing plate is a much better idea than boxing the frame or a new cross member but we really just need to get this thing out and rolling again. Then if we feel it is necessary we'll add one.
lots of google image searching to justify "I don't feel like building it" The paint would have been dry by now.
Or spend shop time doing more important stuff... if I could be working in my shop i would, it doesn't take a smart guy to figure that out :flipoff2:
anyways,
got the factory track bar mount (janky ass ball joint thingy) out. I had to grind the bottom of the ball joint off to get the press on there. Pain in the ass but it's done now.

Dom bushing will go where the big new hole is. We're going to make a hockey puck out of some 3/8" plate, then put another piece of plate on top of that, then put some tabs on it for the bushing. The top side is a 3/4" heim that will go into the factory track bar mount or vica verca, whichever works better.
It just hit me that we have all of the parts to set this bitch on the ground. It's pretty exciting.
To get it drivable all I need is
-brake line fittings (thanks alot ford for using some wierd ass size)
-Shocks (going to warranty out some ranchos at work for some the right size)
-Retube the driveshaft and buy a conversion joint.
-Mount the tires
before you go too far with the trac bar and steering, have you made sure your angles are going to be right to prevent bump steer and other goofy ****?
Yeah, we kind of mocked it up and they will be within a couple of inches in length and parallel. We will adjust the height of the track bar with the axle side mount tabs.
we'll do the drag link first, then the track bar to make it perfectly paralell.
Oh and there's a closeup of the coil spring mount clarke.

Here for safe keeping
I know ranchos aren't the best, but they have a lifetime warranty and we sell them at work.
where is the red dog toy?
In the trash.
I only put the stickers on there to see if I can melt them off at the chupacabra 300.
How are you doing the chupacabra 300 without any safety equipment?
Do you think i'm just going to sit around with my thumb up my ass before the race starts?
What springs are you using?
Sounds pretty par for the course! :flipoff2:
What kind of equipment do you need?
Cage, driveshaft loops, harnesses doors, fire extinguishers, window nets, and a bac under .08. None of which I will have at the time.
Sounds like a pain. Can you get it all done on time?
The poor grammar led me to believe that he miss-spoke, so I thought I would ask.
do you need all of that stuff to be a rescue support vehicle?
I like those rancho 5000's a lot on my bronco.. Great shocks
The ford gods were looking down on me today. I found that the 79 bronco frame to axle brake line is the same size as the 05 sd brake lines, so I won't need an adapter.
messed around with brake fittings for a while at work. I need a 7/16 female-9/16 male adapter for the mc and the stock 90's bronco m/c adapter and another adapter to go into that for the back line fitting on the lightning m/c.
Got my 1330-1350 conversion u-joint in. I will use the conversion u joint till I do my 205/1356 doubler, then i'll get 1350 yokes on the transfer case and have new driveshafts made.

Did you re-use the front driveshaft? Did you move the axle forward an inch, it is my experience that a dana 60 pinion is 1 to 1.5" longer than a dana 44, this means the driveshaft needs shortening. Thoughts?
If possible drill where the straps go out, to where you can put u-bolts. This is stronger. If you do not do this, the bronco will light on fire and everyone inside of it will die of the hiv.
Yeah I think the driveshaft needs to be shortened a bit. I agree I like the u bolts better. I'll probably end up doing that.
I tried going to full compression on that side to see what maxing it out would be but it started to lift off the jackstands before I could see. I didn't want the truck to fall on me, especially since i was alone. i'll try it out on the rti later this week.
What's your plan for diffs?
4:10 for now, I have the carrier and pinion out of sparlings 10.25 so I just need 60 4:10's. I'll eventually go to 4:56 when I go up to big boy tires, and a 1356 doubler. Welded rear detroit front.
Hydro assist?
brian is about to go full hydro.... u could buy his stuff...
Awesome. Let me know. I'll be meeting frick to give him a tranny later this week.

After 3 weeks of looking for a new one I found this son of a bitch. I should have gone to gordons a long time ago, it was on the first ford truck I looked at and took me 2 minutes to get off.
I still don't know what the **** it is, but I need it.
Edit, it's a proportioning valve for the rear drum trucks. I'm going to drill it out.
Sorry, looked for the 4.10 gears, I think they have been recycled.
