That was AWESOME! Ed you rule. I don't think they make axles to stand up to that kind of abuse.
Don't think it will be hollow. I think your best bet will be some type of magnet concoction, I seen it done before.

Thunderbird will do just fine.
Remember that detroit that the lady broke the shaft off in at Trees.
Had the rear shocks been on, the bed not floppin like an epileptic, the front axle been turned up like it needed to be, and the front traction bar been on, I am pretty sure it would have held up and possibly made it. I have a feeling the front drive shaft went and then the added stress and torque that got sent to the rear was too much for the axle in the spot it was in.![]()
Looks like I am going to be busy when I come home for Clayton.

Thanks guys, I will pass that info on. Hopefully my granddad will have time in the next week or so to mess with it so I can start lookin for the correct shafts.
mmmmmm, bacontini, sounds atkins friendly atleast.
I am still trying to decide if I am going to actually be able to make it back for the redneck games in huntsville or not (just have to locate a good set of train horns to keep those pesky 4wheelers out of the way so I don't get any stuck in the undercarraige). If I am, then I should have plenty of time to get it in shape to wheel there and then have plenty of time before the Clayton run in December.
Oh, and keep yall's BBM rendevous planning outa my thread.![]()
the detroit seemed alright because it drove in 1 wheel drive all of the way home?
But I have never really seen one break before so I don't know what they do

This has been brought up as we were wondering which had given out while we were trying to get turned around at that spot so I could get out. I guess I may just wait till I get home to mess with it.
On another note, something on the winch is shot. When I parked the truck we started respooling it so I could get the wire back on the spool a little better and the "ti" part of it kicked in and shut it down. The motor was pretty hot and the power leads were hot also. It didn't sound like it was in a bind, so I am unsure what it might be.
Ed, I just now watched the videos from Trees. I don't remember you beating on the lonestar showdown jeep that much, but I've got to say, I'm scared of what kind of competition I might have at the "2nd annual 8 Point hill climb" in Clayton this year.![]()
