Cool buildup. I almost got one of those, same color and everything several years ago. I was afraid of the rotary engine also. I didn't want to have to work on it because I know dick about them. Settled for a Honda instead... which I promptly flogged like a rented mule.![]()

I have all the parts to fix it now, just need time and an Impact.
Oh, and I just picked up another 86 RX-7 N/A. For free...

this is where we got a rental from this past weekend. they had some pretty cool cars in there. some race prepped rx7's and a rx8. some of the cars that ran in the 25 hr race had those cool air jacks. I have to say that a prepped miata is fun...four wheels drifts are even better.
the miatas rented we got it for free. I asked the guy how much they rented for b/c i thought it would be a cool weekend thing to do. he said 895. I'm thinking. well hell he's not talking about $8.95 a day. $895! holy ****! he said the race ready ones for the series rent for $1700 a day. basically they meet you at the track and bring a support crew. you just show up and race and they keep it going. when your done they tow it back to their shop. I think they have several they bring to a race. cool concept.
Yeah spec Miatas are pretty damn cool. One of my good friends from High School, very well off, is a regular at Texas World Speed Way. He has a modified Noble M400 (IIRC)and a 750whp+ Supra. He says the Spec Miata's through down faster lap times than the Noble (when on Street tires). I wouldn't mind building one. Miata's see more track time than any other car ever produced.
The new RX-7 had a fuel leak and caught fire, but it was put out early. It just needs new fuel lines, injector seals, and a couple of vacuum lines to run. I am thinking about just fixing it and using it for a DD. Leave it stock.
Other wise the car is completely stock, the interior is in great shape (better than my turbo's). The body is straight, and there is no rust on the car whatsoever. The paint is what you would expect for a 22 y.o. car that has spent the last two or so years out side.
I am also thinking an lsx swap for a DD would also be very nice... But I have more than enough projects right now.
