I've heard that HF's hand tools have a lifetime warranty but is it as easy as Craftsman? Have you walked into HF with a busted screwdriver and had them hand you another like you do at Sears? I also prefer the old-school style of crapsman sockets but have not had any of my laser-etched ones totally wear off to the point that you can't read it with a little grease stuck to the etching

Sears is in the mall. So from an incredibly lazy point of view...HF is better.

I just buy Craftsman off of eBay, and when it breaks try and get them to replace it.

That is the key right there. I was reorganizing the garage last night and realized my 12 MM socket could barely be read (laser etched) but my 11 had a greasy finger print across the etching and it was VERY easy to read. I will have to keep the Gojo away from my 3/8" drive drawer...

Yep, never EVER clean your tools. If you find yourself with a perfectly organized, matched, and immaculate set of tools you obviously need another project

I have laughed harder at this thread than that will ferrell Jeopardy video someone just posted - and I laughed so hard at that one I woke the baby up.

p.s. I am only on page 3, will post when I finish if my sides have not exploded.

Damn, so page 3 was the last "good" page. I was all ready to respond to Jimmy's advice post that referenced me.

FWIW, I was going to recommend you consider giving it up, UNLESS you were really interested in learning how to work on your own truck and improve your mechanical skills. I thought I was when I bought the 4runner, then decided I just didn't have the interest or mechanical aptitude to do most of the involved stuff.

I really think you should look for a ready to go, or close to ready to go rig. A sammi or jeep would be good starters and they can be had trail ready for pretty damn cheap. Then you can learn how to wrench (or learn you don't want to learn) while upgrading it.
    Thanks,
    Chris Scotti
