Something is amiss, I just can't put my finger on it.

One of my 258s liked to do that. I pulled the rocker arm off and welded a piece of 1/2" pipe about 1/4" long to the rocker arm centered on the dimple for the push rod. Never happened again.
easy fix?

Mark told me they set the valves on the engine stand and that was the actual preferred way to do it.
Yes and no. Yes if you knew what you were doing and it didn't keep popping up other problems.
Was finally able to find a working timing light and got the timing dialed in to about 12 deg initial so that it will start. It's a mother to get it started though. Ran out of light, patience and will to keep working on it though. I have never thought about ever selling this rig off, but it is a definite possibility right now. This **** should not be that hard.![]()
I believe you have to reset lash onco the lifters pump up when it running, SBC's are like this im guessing BBC's are too. Atleast that what i did when we put the first cam in it. With the motor running looseneach rocker till it ticks then tighten it till the ticking goes away then another1/4 turn. Do it to each and you should be set

Ed if you need another set of hands to work on your rig, let me know, I don't have anything going on this week in the evenings.

you do not have to have it running to set a hydro cam, that is a mistake made by not checking the lash in firing order. if you check it in the firing order and wait til the intake is closing in that order you can not f it up. if you do it in firing order you dont have the chance of catching one of the exhaust lifters starting the ramp.
Not a problem. I am too tired to fork with it anymore as it is.
Thanks in advance for sending it.
Ok. I couldn't remember and it had me worried we missed something.
