A built dana 30 is just fine. A lot of people use the "coulda bought a 60" argument. It's true, you probably could buy the 60. But you have to replace the rear axle to match the front. Are you going to put a 60 on shortarms? No, so now you're into a 3 link. New driveshafts? New wheels? New tires if you bump to 16/16.5/17" wheels? Add a couple grand over what he has in that 30.

Build the 30, wheel the 30, realize it does have limitations, bring spares, have fun.
