Most definitely.
I should be there. dibs on next desirable bed.
The weight classes interest me, I want to see what the lightweights are built like.
Andy, any recco for strengthening the lower back for an event like this (I'm pretty sure that would be my weakest link right now)
Jimmy, I think the competitor may need the good bed, at least on firday night.

I relinquish my dibs to the athlete. Is it ok to "carb load" if we are just watching!

If I got serious about my lifting, I could probably be ready for something like this in the late fall. Looking at the weights for the lifts, I probably wouldn't be that competitive. My upper body isn't what it used to be, but my back and legs kept a lot of their strength through the weight loss. The problem I see is if I really started getting my body in shape for something like this, putting on muscle mass would probably throw me into the heavyweight class and I have no business there.

He asked for things that would target the low back. Technically, anything you do on your feet involves the low back, as do all of the powerlifting movements and most compound, multi-joint movements, which is what I'm sure you're referring to.
Box squats? Seriously? Is there anything you don't know?
Just when you though it was safe to go back in the water...
AH - all the lifts I hated. No wonder it is such a weak point for me. In my functional test for work the other day I was dyin. Even things like rollerblading as a kid made my lower back tired.
On a more positive, if not completely on topic, note, it looks like I might be in a better situation now for improving my diet and workout habits.
Shifting gears, can you still wheel along the san jac river near 242, a la the 'fish run' my freshman year?
