Da Vinci's other strong relationship was with Count Francesco Melzi of Milanese royalty. Melzi studied beneath Da Vinci and was said to be his favorite student as Melzi stayed with Da Vinci for 14 years and inherited Da Vinci's paintings and works upon his death.
